LATIN TV LIGHTS UP WITH THE TESSERA M2

August 27, 2016

The Brompton Tessera M2 processor has recently been used on Univision’s beauty pageant and reality show Nuestra Belleza Latina (translation: Our Latin Beauty).

The Latin-American show ran for 13 weeks on American television with a live finale. 2016 marked the 10th anniversary of the show and was unofficially called NBL VIP, featuring returning contestants from previous series. The show also hosted a variety of renowned Latin and international musical acts including Pit Bull, Thalia, CNCO, Prince Royce, Epsinoza Paz, Chino and Nacho, El Dasa and many others.

The set video elements consisted almost entirely of BR-5, BR-7, and BR-15 tiles running from M2 processors. The judges’ platform was BR-5, as was the main set, with BR-15 for the headers. BR-7 was used for the runway outline and BR-15 was used around the audience area.

Jorge Dominguez of Univision designed the set and specified all the video elements. Lighting design was by Carlos Colina from Univision, with video equipment supplied by Roca Video. Patrick Wambold of PixelPup Inc. created the wiring plan, processor layout and programming, and installation planning. Joey Kranz of 5th Element Productions programmed the show.

Patrick Wambold of PixelPup Inc had this to say about programming with the M2:

"The M2 is by far my favourite processor and we all feel spoiled after we use it, especially when we have to go back to other products. I wish every tile could use it.

The flexibility to put different pixel pitch tiles in the same daisy chain is awesome. Being able to home run different lines to a gigabit switch and only use 1 port was extremely useful for band adders and special additions. The ability to use either sync'd DVI or HD-SDI and genlock, all with re-clock loop thru means no more signal conversion or splitting between processors. Tiles can be rotated, flipped, nudged, and spaced out wherever you want on the 1920x1080 canvas without column or width restrictions.

Lastly, and probably the best feature is the ability to see the input signal on the user interface layout screen and just make the tiles match the layout raster that is coming directly from the media server. Tessera is easy to use, intuitive and network controlled. I can't praise this processor enough."
