TESSERA ON TOUR: DEPECHE MODE

September 4, 2017

The US leg of Depeche Mode’s Global Spirit Tour kicked off in style mid-August in Salt Lake City.

Brompton partner Universal Pixels supplied the tour with a spectacular rig of Brompton-ready InfiLED ER5 panels. InfiLED's local partner InfiLED EM International provided the rig, comprised of 248 x ER5 full tiles and 31 x ER5 mini tiles to create a stunning, split-screen video on stage. All the panels are equipped with Brompton R2 panel cards, and run from 3 active Tessera S4 processors with a fourth unit as spare.

The equipment was air-freighted direct to Salt Lake City with a critical deadline for the first show. With such a tight turnaround it's especially important that nothing is left to chance, so Brompton Technology's Adam (Lego) Callaway provided training for the crew at Brompton's offices in Ealing before they left for the States, and Brompton's China-side FAE team was on hand during manufacture to oversee calibration of the panels.

The tiles have been repackaged for the road into a custom touring system provided by Twenty Three Co, headed up by LED guru Kristof Soreyn. The Twenty Three Co team also oversaw Factory Acceptance Testing of the panels prior to delivery.

Phil Mercer of Universal Pixels had this to say about Brompton's Tessera processing:

" As a recent start-up, Universal Pixels only invests in video technology with a clearly defined future road map, Tessera provides this and has become the industry standard for LED processing (regardless of panel manufacturer or SMD type) - which helps us hugely, both with technician knowledge, and on the road support."
